Memphis Swirl Logo

Memphis Swirl is a brand for a soft serve truck but can evolve into something that could expand into a restaurant concept as well.
The name and mascot in the logo is hinting at an ice cream parlour however because of the finished 1950's diner look it could potentially open up the menu to diner-style food like waffles, burgers and fries.

Inspired by the unique swirl each cone has from the soft serve machine, I used it to inspire the logo as well as the name of the brand.

With designing the logo, I had an idea about creating a mascot with the swirl hair that looks like a soft serve. The partial representation had to be obvious enough to see the ice cream but not too abstract that you couldn't identify the person.
Then with regards to the font, I went through a Vegas style, to a simple font and it just didn't bake well together, when I added in the typical 1950's diner font the design looked complete, especially in the typical era's peach and aqua colour tones.

This is what the menu would look like to be printed on vinyl and added onto the side of the food truck or poster boards for the store.

Keeping the first menu simple and classic, emphasising on the businesses goal to keep the ice creams high quality and old-fashioned as a good thing. In a world living online Memphis Swirl wants to nurture the simple joy of ice cream with those you love.

The uniforms for Memphis Swirl can begin with ready-made golf shirts in pink and blue as an MVP, to customise on a budget we can add embroidery on the chest of the logo as well as change the colour of the buttons. To add a special touch we can do stitching in white that swirls around the hems of the sleeves and hips.

As a winter option we can have custom sublimated shirts printed with a large stripe and logo design on the front and back, the style is inspired by bowling shirts which gained popularity in the 1950s. The design has a contrasting lapel and piping on the front pocket.

Finally to distinguish the managers on staff they can wear a more traditional button down shirt in a cotton for that added professionalism. The logo is to be embroidered smaller on the shirt to keep the look of elegance and professionalism.

Also the staff need to go on a hair styling course in order to style their hair in swirls daily.
